Dodge Ball/ Battle Ball.

Got some unresolved tensions? Want to be the hit of the party? Like shopping at Target? Then perhaps you should try the sport of Dodge Ball. Invite your wife, your boss, your Mother-in-law, and join in some adrenaline pumping chaos. I started two Dodge ball groups, four and a half years ago, and it has been extremely profitable for me. All it took investment wise was 16 Multi-colored Leather coated nerf balls at about s18.00 a piece, some painters tape for a line,and some ads in the local Community Ed magazine which they paid for.  I run a class of 1st through approximately sixth graders, plus an adult/teen group as well. We meet in a windowless,  elementary school cafeteria and stage elaborate battles every week. Each player pays me five dollars for two hours of mayhem, and I split the drop-in fees at 50/50 with the

community ed program. Attendance is never a problem, the game has been popular since the movie was a big hit about five years ago. I average most nights between 15 and twenty-five players, and often have up to 30 kids or adults playing in the winter semesters. That translates into  $100.00 to 150.00 collected, so I get paid to simply referee and blow a whistle and have fun watching or playing myself. We have devised many wild and crazy games, such as dodge ball in a completely dark room, goofy dodge ball where you have to throw with your left hand only, and Siamese dodge ball where you are strapped with elastic to another player at the wrist and have to fight as a team. I have also set up a hero system to provide incentive to

keep coming back, The last man left on either side of the court is hailed as a hero, and he can go anywhere to take out his opponents on the other side.  If he succeeds in eliminating the three or four or up to eight sometimes players on the other side, then he gets a hero point on my hero board. The player with the most hero points at the end of each semester, wins a hero T-shirt,  plus a free eight weeks of dodgeball.  If he wins twice he gets one of my homemade trophies, and another eight free weeks. So check your area to see if there is a dodge ball league near you, or start one of your own. We also play co-ed dodge ball, which lets husbands and wives battle each other in a healthy way, girlfriends and boyfriends or justthe old girls against guys....and often the girls win.
